I hitchhiked from Arizona with these nice folks and a dog in a Ford Pickup. The dog was nice. It was a beautiful mutt with a bandana around its neck. I rode in the back and the dog and I looked at each other and then at the expansive highway as we drove West. I wore a mask just to be safe and to keep me warm to be honest. It gets cold in the desert. I had a bag and a dream. And a book. The Bhagavad Gita. There are a lot of editions, but this one edition a friend gave me. I like this one a lot. We pulled into this town called 29 Palms and when we did the sky was more magical than anything I had ever seen. We got a flat tire around Two Mile and Lear. After the folks fixed it. I fixed my eyes on the sky and then came back down on a For Sale sign. Land. For some reason I didn't want to leave. I called the number on the sign and told the folks I'd be fine. That I had found my place. And I did. I took the rest of my money and got 5 acres in this town called 29 Palms in Desert Heights. I'm going to build a home. And even though the mainline extension for water is expensive and the water meters just went up a lot of money on March 1st, this realtor hooked me up. The stars are worth the price of admission.
